History day

This unique field trip looks at the way Ryer’s Down has been utilised through the last five thousand years. A truly innovative day includes the reconstruction of a full sized medieval longhouse so that the students can picture what the site looked like eight hundred years ago. They can undertake team building challenges to build the longhouse and then take a guided tour of the house and imagine what it would have been like to live there all those years ago. The students can take part in many of the tasks that the children would have such as building wattle and daub fences, brining in the cattle, hunting and making bread. A great opportunity to bring history alive on this beautiful site.
