Swansea docks and marina heritage trail

Swansea marina has a wealth of history from its use in the 1700s as a seaside resort then it’s transformation into the busiest docks in the 1800s. The field trip will follow a route around the old docks in search of the original buildings and relics of the past industrial life of the area.

Adaptations of freshwater invertebrates

The physical condition in a river and pond can be measured such as velocity and temperature. Then the animals found within the water can be examined and their adaptations linked to the measurements made. Biotic data, such as Biotic index for pollution levels can also be collected.

Heathland habitat

Ryers down is a wonderful heathland, which provides great opportunities for investigating the plants and animals which live there. There is also a pond which is full of dragonfly nymphs and diving beetles. Investigate the creatures in the pond, woodland or heathland all within walking distance.
